Upon completion of this session, you should be able to:
1. Utilize an evidence-based diagnostic approach to evaluate patients presenting with constipation.
2. Identify more serious, underlying conditions that may present with constipation as a symptom.
3. Counsel patients on diet and exercise habits including increasing fluid and fiber intake to both treat and prevent constipation.
4. Classify various laxatives (i.e, bulking agents, osmotic agents, stimulants, pro-kinetic agents, etc) and the evidenced based indications for use.
