Learning Objectives

1. Recognize characteristics of the different types of depression and mood disorders.

2. Competently conduct a suicide risk assessment.

3. Utilize appropriate diagnostic criteria (DMS-5) to evaluate and screen patients for depression and mood disorders.

4. Recognize the risks associated with certain drugs used to treat depression and mood disorders, and know which carry REMS and black box warnings about suicide.
