Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this session, you should be able to:

1. Develop an evidence-based, screening protocol to identify patients with risk factors for developing hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. 
2. Perform appropriate laboratory tests to diagnose hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism based on a symptomatology. 
3. Prescribe appropriate therapy for patients with hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism symptomatology and monitor patients accordingly. 
4. Educate women regarding the risks of untreated hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism in pregnancy and prescribe appropriate treatment.
