1. Utilize appropriate diagnostic criteria to evaluate and screen patients for depression, mood disorders, and suicide risk.
2. Coordinate care for patients who require referral to sub-specialists or admission to hospitals for suicide prevention.
3. Recognize the risks associated with certain drugs used to treat depression and mood disorders, and know which carry REMS and black box warnings about suicide.
