Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this session, you should be able to:

1. Assess patients’ use of CAM therapies and nutritional or dietary supplements, and provide counseling to encourage safe and effective use.
2. Identify patients at risk of excessive intake of micronutrients, dangerous supplement-drug interactions, and harmful performance-enhancing dietary supplements. 
3. Compare and contrast CAM therapies commonly used in children and adolescents. 
4. Provide patient education resources to educate patients and families on safety and efficacy of commonly used CAM therapies.
