Upon completion of this session, you should be able to:

1. Implement routine screening to identify patients at risk for nutrition deficits.
2. Assess patients’ use of nutritional or dietary supplements and provide counseling to encourage safe and effective use.
3. Identify patients at risk of excessive intake of micronutrients, dangerous supplement-drug interactions, and harmful performance-enhancing dietary supplements.
4. Explain existing evidence supporting the use of herbals and nutritional supplements.
