Learning Objectives

1. Screen patients using BMI measurements to determine whether they are overweight or obese.
2. Counsel patients who are overweight or obese on how to make lifestyle modifications to reduce their risk for developing comorbidities, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
3. Assess the risks and benefits of medications to promote weight loss and prescribe when indicated.
4. Formulate strategies to educate patients on surgical treatment options for obesity.
