Statins: Recommendation Updates
Upon completion of this session, you should be able to:
1. Utilize evidence-based risk calculators to assess risk of future events and to guide management decisions.
2. Select the appropriate level of therapy needed for primary and secondary prevention of atherosclerotic disease events according to the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment (ACC/AHA) guidelines.
3. Identify contraindications to statin use in adults older than age 75.
4. Using shared decision-making, determine a treatment plan for patients over the age of 75 with consideration to atherosclerotic event risk and individual comorbidities.
