Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this session, you should be able to:

1. Develop an individualized plan of care involving shared decision-making that includes monitoring for potential adverse events and overall efficacy of therapy, and consideration for comorbidities and their impact on treatment.  

2. Outline evidence-based pharmacologic treatment options recommended for use in adults and older adult patients (>50).

3. Recommend nonpharmacologic concomitant therapies to increase treatment efficacy (consideration to psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, etc.).

4. Discuss potential barriers to therapy adherence with patients and families to identify strategies to aid in successful treatment.
